Can any one in the american armed forces here, or who know about stuff like this tell me as the leading officer cadet in bunker hill academy where would that put him afterwards in terms of going into the main army ?. Would he be head hunted into officer school ?, or get a direct entry in to some where ?. Unlike sean penns character, who seemed like he was forced into the academy to probaly make him more disiplined etc, it seemed he wanted to make it as his career.

In his position as the cadet major Brian Moreland would graduate with
honors and therefore would be accepted into any of the three main
military service academies where he would apply. West Point, naval
academy or the air force academy. As the senior cadet he is outranked
only by Gen. Bache who is the superintendent of Bunker Hill Academy.
Of course Brian Moreland also has the option of enrolling at any
civilian university and being enrolled in the school's ROTC program
though that is highly unlikely since he just spent several years
at a private military academy and will therefore apply to any of
the service academies which I have listed. Keep in mind that private
schools and prep schools prepare young students very well for the
discipline and regimentation of being at a military service academy
and as long as they get top grades along with a congressman's
recommendation then they are well on the way to being accepted at
such an institute of higher learning to prepare them for a military
career. Once they graduate they are commissioned an officer and
are obligated to Uncle Sam for a minimum of five years of military
service. Fyi the US Navy has an officer candidate program for
enlisted personnel who already hold a bachelor's degree and they
are welcome to apply. Many of the best naval officers have started
out as enlisted personnel and turn out of be fine officers and
leaders in our fleets. I ought to know since I am an eight year
surface warfare veteran of our navy. I hope that I have helped to
answer your questions.
