And yeah, even though this film is mostly set in Chicago, the whole thing gives me more of an LA vibe (Mann style, of course).<br />

<p dir="auto">LA was I think symbolic for the diamond heist to go down there. Like it was the big time. This was all about a fairly local guy, doing some small time stuff, making a shot at the big time. So the movie needed that distance for Frank to reach for. He was a fish out of water. Adds to the tension.</p>

<p dir="auto">for some reason i always felt the movie had more an "LA" theme to it rather than chicago.<br />
and yes michael mann does it the best.</p>
