The bar setting was definitely a huge draw then and now. Since there's basically at least one bar in any given town, it's hence something everyone can relate to. We've all gone to bars and hung out with a colorful assortment of folks in bars. So it's got that universal appeal going for it.

My mom and (older sisters) watched it, so I did by default. I was only 2 when he first aired, but do remember seeing Diane, so I think she was on 3 seasons. I would ahve been 5 in her last season.

I was too young to watch it. But I did watch Showtime original series like "The Paper Chase" even tho I didn't know what was going on.

I used to hate Diane when I was younger, but she's a lot funnier than Rebecca.

I could not wait for Diane to leave, she was so irritating but then I also gave up a couple of seasons into Rebecca's run. I found the Robin Colcord storyline so annoying I couldn't watch it anymore.
From a funny point of view I think Cliff and Carla had some of the best exchanges with Frasier and Norm, Woody (and Coach previous to that) doing great work in the wings.

Maybe you’re getting burned out on it as I do from watching too many repeats of it.
