So the girl Gelfling calls for help from some woodland creatures, the very tall and veryh fast Landstriders, but they get killed by the Skesis servants in that battle before the two Gelflings enter the castle.
So they go and help her, but get killed as a reward for their efforts.
I've never liked that part of the movie.

I just assumed they came back to life when the Urskeks were revived. All the plants immediately came back to life.

I guess we can think that she did, but there's no indication of it. Even as they parachuted down that moat/canyon or whatever you want to call it, she seems oblivious to the sacrifice that the animals made.
Again, just me.

"
I agree 100%. That part always bothered me big time too. Not only were they killed, but Kira didn't seem to care one bit!
She doesn't even react to their screaming demise.
"
It may be callous, at the time, but remember they were the only two (Jen and Kira) that were trying to save the world.. They were being attacked by the Garthim, the same that had taken her family (can you say trauma?) and trying to rescue the villagers that were Kira's extended, adoptive, family so, a bit of a tense moment for anyone, right?
It doesn't show it on screen, but with the way she was
so
close to Nature, and the animals in it do you really think she didn't grieve later?
Peace

I thought that as well. I'm sure they would have reconsidered if they knew what they were getting into. They certainly did get screwed.
