First Blood and Rocky were excellent movies, even with their flaws.
If Stallone never makes a sequel for either would these movies hold up better? Each film starts transforming serious characters into more comic book heroes with the follow up sequel in the series.

My opinion is that either film would have held up fine, and neither benefited nor suffered from the sequels.
I like the first two Rocky sequels, but hate all Rambo films (First Blood excluded of course).
Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.
