As a kid and remember liking it !!! I also remember seeing Spacehunter, Timerider, and MetalStorm AT AN ACTUAL MOVIE THEATRE. Can you believe they used to allow movies like this to be released on the big screen? I miss the 80s sometimes.

That's awesome. As bad as these films are, they do need the dignity of a theatrical release to really enjoy the the reactions of other theater goers.

I was 15 and up to that time it was the worst big screen film experience of my life. it still stands out, though i'm not sure if it's because it is the worst I'd seen on the bigscreen, or if it was just the big disappointment.

I learned about this film before it came out and was dying to see it - so when my family went to see E.T., I got to see this instead on another screen. And I loved it! I was 11, and at the time it was, as you say, like watching the Matrix. Motorbikes with machineguns & missiles! Futuristic dune buggies with lasers! Knocking out tanks! And flashy paint that turns black at night (okay, that part never did make much sense). When you're that age, the best parts of Star Wars and BSG aren't the characters, themes or plot, they're the action sequences with spiffy fighters, and the vehicles in this made you believe we were only one step away from an X-wing or Colonial Viper.
(And I didn't get around to watching E.T. until more than 25 years later. I mean, a space alien movie with no combat scenes? 11-year-old boys want action and futuristic battles, not a touching story of cross-species friendship based on candy product placement!)

Guys I was about five years old when I begged my dad to go to the theater with me to see this movie and it was like watching the matrix. With every explosion and every facial manerism I was like, " WOOOOOOOOOOWWW!! Rocket cycles!!YEAH!"
And the funky music. I loved it and i still do this is a good movie for action fans made by a great director who is awsome when it comes to making movies with vehicles in it.

I saw it at a theatre when I was 20. For the first half, me and the audience sat there in stunned silence (we couldn't believe how bad it was). Then, halfway through, people started to laugh. In short order everybody was laughing. By the end the theatre was almost in hysterics! So it IS terrible but I had a fun time watching it:)

I saw it in the theatre too. I was about 19, and at the time I thought it was the worst movie I'd ever seen. Well I know there are worse movies now, but it still symbolizes the worst to me.
