In an interview with Hal Needham done a few years ago, he stated that he would never re-release Megaforce on DVD or Blueray in the US due to the dissapointing reviews and returns from the Box office and VHS sales. I really hope he changes his mind or does what George Lucas did with Star War and go back to the print and use todays digital technology to enhance it and release to a new generation of audience.

So does Hal control the rights then?
I wonder if he's aware that the film has a small but loyal cult following [The long out of print VHS goes for upwards of $30 on Amazon]? I'm not saying it would break any sales records but much, much, much worse and lower profile movies have made it to DVD. Even if you think the movie is crap [And judging by it's IMDB rating, many do] it's a must own nostalgia movie for many.
Every time someone purchases the old VHS or a bootleg DVD, the rights holders lose out on money.
The Force is with you young Skywalker but you are not a Jedi
yet
