I have to agree with Eric.
I remember when this film was first aired on TV in 1982, and watched it several times in reruns growing up; I finally got the Archive DVD copy late last year (2014).
And on a re-watch, I didn't notice any scenes missing.
SPOILERS FOLLOW
I don't know how familiar you are with this film, but if you're thinking there are scenes missing at the very end (the switch to the final credits can seem kind of abrupt), there aren't any. I clearly remember the scenes of the people around the world looking up at the sky, hearing perhaps the incoming sounds of nuclear bombers or missiles, and then the credits roll.
There never were scenes of weapons impacting or mushroom clouds bursting, if you're thinking something like that was cut.
I don't have any answers for you as far as the widescreen/TV format confusion, and of course I could be wrong and maybe there ARE scenes missing, but I'm pretty certain the Warner Archive release 183 minute version is the complete version.
I know that Amazon or IMDB may say 200 minutes on their websites, but they have been wrong about these things in the past.
Also, just so you know, this film was strictly a television release; it was never released theatrically.
A good film nonetheless.
Sincerely,
Todd

If there was nothing cut from the DVD release, then why is the Warner Archive DVD running time listed as 183 minutes while the CBS/FOX VHS running time is listed as 200 minutes - a difference of 17 minutes? Some of the reviewers on amazon.com have indicated that there is at least one small scene missing from the end of the DVD. I spoke to a lady at Warner Bros. who told me that the 183 minute running time listed on the DVD case is correct and that it's the only version of the film that Warner Bros. have. If they only have the 183 minute version then the 200 minute version must still be owned by 20th Century Fox who are the legal successors to the CBS/FOX catalog (according to Wikipedia). The Warner Archive version is also listed as being in widescreen format (1.77:1) on the DVD case. Why would a made-for-TV film be produced in widescreen in 1982? The original CBS/FOX VHS version is listed as being in TV format (1.33:1) and 200 minutes on imdb. Is it possible that the version released by Warner Archive is the theatrical or syndicated version while the original TV version is still owned by FOX?

There was nothing cut from the DVD release. The rights are controlled by Warner Archive who put out the DVD release, not FOX so you're wasting your time asking to write to them.
