It wasn't a great movie and Pavorotti isn't a great movie actor but it was a fun movie and Pavorotti did it just for that reason, fun. He didn't need a movie career on top of his other accomplishments, but the public did indeed want to see more of him, expecially in a more comic light, since he appeared to be such an affable bear in person but took his opera work VERY seriously. America likes to see people be able to laugh at themselves, especially in a situation like opera that is considered 'stuffy' by the public at large. Even though it wasn't a great movie, I enjoyed it.

Agreed! It's only a 3 or 4 for story and acting, but it's a 10 all the way with music. I figure that averages to a 7.

I can't understand all the 1 and 2 votes for this film; I gave it a 6. It's predicable and doesn't really work as comedy or soap opera, but it's fluffy and enjoyable and has some great music.

You're right, rw! I had an old VHS tape of this and watched it yesterday, and it is a fun movie. Have ordered the DVD from the Warner homepage.
Also, couldn't help notice that 46-year old Pavarotti looks a lot like Kevin Smith in early parts of the movie!
