I would like to know your reasoning behind that statement. Like i've said, i also tend to believe that earth is not the only planet with life in the universe, but why is it retarded to consider the possibility (and in this point in time, a very real possibility) that life is unique to our planet?

Yea exactly would be retarded to think we are the only ones in the whole universe

I tend to believe there is other life in the universe, but the possibility that life is unique to out planet is very real.
Sure, there are billions of galaxies out there, but that's not enough to correctly assess probabilities.

Huffington post eh. Anyway, when Mars contains 3 liters of water for every 8 cubic feet of dirt there are bound to be microbes living there. The idea of the universe in all of its immensity not having life (aside from the earth)is beyond unlikely.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.
