It's one of the best adaptation. I think the best one ever made is probably The Shinning or Shawshank Redemption.

I'd say it might be the most underrated. Not the best.
Carrie, Stand By Me, Shawshank, Green Mile, The Shining are all better.
The novel is definitely one of King's best.

Nope. Cujo gets my vote instead.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

this is like raping an author here.
King rapes his own books by selling the rights and allowing them to be made into movies. He's a money grubber. Kubrick was a true artist.

love how just 5 minutes after i made this you are on here. a constant presence on here
what in the word did you dislike about this masterpiece? i mean it's enjoyable, lovable and respectable for and to both groups, the non academia movie lovers and the film scholars, historians.
king hates, deplores the shining. said it was like a restored cadillac with no engine. thus, no soul, an empty film which misses the point of his book.
this is like raping an author here. would you appreciate a filmmaker totally missing the point of your book? also nicholson overacts. and acts funny in the conversation with the office guy scene instead of crazy.

Bah! I disliked it immensely. Carpenter's first real "miss" imho.
Best film based on a King novel would naturally be The Shining. Yeah, I know, King hates Kubrick's film. Fuck King! Kubrick took a novel that couldn't be made into a film as it was and added his own ideas to it and created a horror masterpiece. Haters can hate all they want to. The Shining will be discussed and dissected by film lovers the world over for centuries to come.
