I'm watching it on the MGM channel now and two things pop into my mind.

Why did the brain call for help? I mean, what made her think she needed help when she can't see, hear or sense anything but the doctor's voice, right?

Why did Dolores go out on that balcony? She chained herself to the wall so she clearly never intended to jump (or what?), and if it was to make him die trying to rescue her, then why didn't she just push him off when he was out there with her?
Just overthinking it at tad

Yes you are correct that she answers the phone and that is when she plots to kill him off to inherit the money.

It's been awhile since I've seen the movie, but regarding question 2, I recall Dolores had just received a phone call (meant for Michael) where it was revealed to her that Michael had inherited a fortune. She went out onto the ledge to fake a suicide attempt in order to get Michael to feel bad for her and convince him that she loved him. She basically wanted to trick Michael into reconciling with her, so she could stay tied to his future fortune.
