<p dir="auto">Was that an M14?  Why was the scope mounted offset?  I looked all over google images and saw plenty of scoped M14's, but not one of them was offset.  Plus Swayze's optic was some kind of NV/ Thermal, which back then was heavy as hell.  Which would make a person WANT to have the scope level with the rifle just for proper balance.<br />
I know M14's eject their brass up, but even so, most scopes are mounted inline with the barrel.</p>

<p dir="auto">I'd say they used a scope mount for the sniper version of the M-1 (M-1C or D), those rifles are very simialar to the M-14. The M-1 was a top loading rifle, the M-14 used a magazine, which could be topped off through the top by using stripper clips. Kind of a neat feature.</p>
