It's been a long time since I saw this film. One plot element seems implausible to me. Maybe it was explained in the film and I've forgotten.
Avigdor wanted to marry Hadass, but is unable to do so. So he wants his friend Anshel/Yentl to marry her so that Avigdor will be able to visit Anshel and spend time near Hadass. That's sad, since he should move on and find another girl to marry. But it's plausible.
But what is Anshel's thinking in marrying Hadass? In traditional Judaism, which applies here, everyone is expected to marry and raise children. Conjugal relations are supposed to start immediately after the wedding. Isn't Hadass going to notice that they're not doing this? How was Anshel planning on addressing that?
You got your mind right, Luke?
