What's your favorite scene?
Mine is when Mozart and Salieri are working together on the Mass Requiem. The fact Tom Hulce wasn't even nominated for that scene is a crime.

Too many to list, a lot of Abraham monologues, including:
At that moment I knew. Beyond any doubt, he'd had her. The
creature
had had my darling girl.

Don Giovanni, for sure (along with the rest of his stage plays). But, of course, The Mass Requiem is also truly awesome.

Not only is the 2 of them working together on the Confutatis my favourite scene of this movie, it's one of my favourite scenes among all movies I've ever seen.

I love all the scenes mentioned, and I share the admiration for F. Murray Abraham's performance, but I think Tom Hulce's performance is sometimes overlooked. I really love the scenes of him conducting, like the one with Katerina Cavallieri singing an aria. The way he conducts with such joy and enthusiasm is wonderful to watch.

Too many to go over, but two come immediately to mind:
The scene when Salieri, in a moment of brief and complete honesty, tells an upset Mozart that he is the greatest composer known to him.
The final scene. Dawn breaks to reveal the young priest is totally emotionally wrung out by the tragic story that the old Salieri relayed to him.
Is very bad to steal Jobu's rum. Is very bad.

The Requiem scene is just incredible. Probably in the argument for the single best scene ever, let alone the best in Amadeus. But I also really like the scene at the beginning, when Salieri meets the priest and plays him three tunestwo of his own, then Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.

The look of ecstasy and rapture on Salieri's face as he reads the transcript of examples of Mozart's work (Concerto for Flute and Harp I think).

The Don Giovanni sequence for me. The way F. Murray Abraham says, "I saw to it that Don Giovanni was played only five times in Vienna but in secret, I went to
every one of those five
." actually brought tears to my eyes. Possibly the best performance in any motion picture ever.

Yeah, the acting that F Murray does with just his face makes it the best performance I've ever seen. So saying this, my favourite is the whole bit from the time he looks up to his crucifix and says 'Grazie senor' and meaning it, to when he looks up again and says it in a more in a sarcastic tone. Amazing.

don't know if this is my most favorite scene, but it's definitely one of them:
the look of shock that registers on Salieri's face as he realizes who the crude young man speaking backward phrases is. F. Murray is amazing.

Who says he wasn't nominated? He was, for Best Actor in a Leading Role, only he lost to F. Murray Abraham. For once, Salieri bested Mozart at something
