Potential Spoiler Alert
A huge chance to get with her? Dude that was 100%! Modine could have scored! But him and his damn bird obsession.
That got really out of hand during the movie - which I suspect was the goal of the directorit was still really sad when the bird crashed into the window. This was undoubtedly one of Modine's best roles and it's a shame he doesn't get more quality work these days. Him and Cage worked well together. And near the end when he starts talking again - for some odd reason I found it hilarious.

~ That actress is Maud Winchester and she played his date
Doris Robinson
. I sort of felt
pretty bad for her b/c she was desperate for Birdy's attention
. Whatta shame that he was crazy & odd
, I think Birdy had a huge chance to get with her.
