apparently, this dvd is released in germany
i have a region free player
it apparently is widescreen and 5.1 surround sound
but on the webpage, it says "Sprache: Deutsche" so i am wondering if the only available version there is dubbed in german
that would be very sucky as i have been wanting this movie for so long now
if that version has an english track as well, then i will simply order the german dvd

Have bought an Italian DVD edition:
Stephen Frears: THE HIT (1984)
Languages: Italian 5.1 / English 5.1
Subtitles: Italian, English
Format: 1.85:1 / 16:9
Company: VIDEA 863101CVDO
Released: 2011
And the film is, of course, an excellent, existentialistic Film Noir, much like a forgotten gem, with a setting like SEXY BEAST (2000), but reminiscent of another Terence Stamp vehicle, THE LIMEY (1999).

It might bethat Paco de Lucia did all the work on the soundtrack LP/CD and Eric Clapton's work was left off.
Then again, maybe Eric's work was just mistakenly credited to Paco. Unlikely, but possible.
I can't find a youtube, or film trailer (online) version of anything from this film, (although I can find at least ONE page that gives Mr. Clapton credit.):
Wait a minute, THIS board gives him credit, as "miscellaneous crew:"

I have the soundtrack on LP (haven't been able to find a CD release). I don't have it handy but I recall that it does not include the Eric Clapton piece - all the music on the LP is by Paco De Lucia (I think he reworks the Clapton piece on the LP but can't be sure).

On the upside, Eric Clapton plays guitar in the flamenco style, on the opening scenes. He hated to do itsaid it almost broke his fingerssomething like that.
Searching for movie soundtracks/CDsof Clapton & "The Hit", brings no responses.
So if you do buy it, in the German version, with the DVD audio quality and indestructibility of CDs and DVDsyou may have a little collector's item.=8^)
Fer instance: Cat Steven's hits from "Harold and Maude" were unavailable for many years on LPs or DVDs.
Keep smiling. ===8^)

I own the German DVD - and German is indeed the only language on it.
But an English R1 version is definitely available - unfortunately it is very badly made Id rather recommend the VHS-Version.

Good question, and yes, if it only indicates "Deutsch" then that is all you get. If you want to hear English, order from UK (or America).
