I've been hanging onto an old VHS version, hoping that it would come out on DVD some day. Finally! My son just emailed me with the news. The Hit is one of my all time favorites, and it deserves the full treatment from a company like Criterion.
And, as usual, Amazon screws up the listing credits, ignoring the three main actors in favor of minor players.

I hope the release of this film spurs more discussion on the board. This film is one to talk about. It's amazing.

Criterion is to release the DVD this April. The details of the DVD are:

• New, restored high-definition digital transfer, approved by director of photography Mike Molloy
• Commentary featuring director Stephen Frears and actors John Hurt and Tim Roth
• Parkinson One-to-One: Terence Stamp, a 1988 television interview with the actor
• Original theatrical trailer
• PLUS: A booklet featuring a new essay by film critic Graham Fuller

Hmm. What about Image releasing it solo? Who has the rights?
