wow can't see passed comedies and sci fi huh? why don't you actually watched these movies first before you judge them and also why not read horror articles online about these all time classic horror films that are these films. you know there are plenty of all time classics that are not just sci fi or teen comedy or comedy movies.
you have the most false knowledge of what is a great film of all time. no other person on this planet who knows about movies and what makes them great would ever say weird science the blob(1988) fright night part 2 or uncle buck aren't all some of the best films ever made.

I don't disagree with most of your choices. But Fright Night 2? The Blob? I wouldn't consider either iconic.
The other films? Weird Science? I wouldn't say that is iconic, either. Or Uncle Buck. A better case can be made for those than Fright Night 2 or The Blob.

ooooh it would be impossible for me to narrow '80s classics films down to just 5 man. i would need 50 to give all the classics of the '80s.
ghostbusters, top gun, weird science uncle buck, ferris bueller's day off, planes, trains, and automobiles, predator, the terminator, national lampoon's christmas vacation, national lampoon's vacation, the blob, fright night part 2, the karate kid, back to the future, back to the future part 2, the breakfast club and this is just scratching the surface.

Empire Strikes Back, filmed in 1980 so it qualifies (or shown in 1980), one of the best sci fi movies ever and arguably the best Star Wars movie.
Star Trek 2 Wrath of Khan (Star Trek is arguably the most famous genre of sci fi rivaled only by Star Wars and even now with a total of 13 movies Khan is the all around best.
Blade Runner
Robocop
Terminator
I listed science fiction, your list was mostly not sci fi, Back to the future is technically sci fi but its more of a teen comedy.
