When it's airs on TV, there are English subtitles for the non-English dialog, but the DVD doesn't have subtitles. Pretty annoying.
I'm always referencing the scene where the commanding officer tells the soldier to go to the sporting goods store to get the 4473 forms to see who has guns. That's the danger of gun control/gun registration. But with the dialog missing from the DVD, it's kind of hard.
This scene, btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OaF-j8x5Vc

If it really is Russian, especially when William Smith is in the scene.
If that's an insinuation that William Smith is faking speaking Russian, a look at his biographical info will tell you that he studied Russian at the Defense Language Institute when he was in the Air Force during the Korean War and flew missions in reconnaissance aircraft monitoring Soviet military radio transmissions. He continued studying Russian in college and graduate school. He waited for a Russian-speaking role like Colonel Strelnikov for nearly 40 years.

Hmmm Plenty of English subtitles of Russian and Spanish, on my DVD. You do have to turn this function on though, in "Language Selection".

I suppose it adds realism. I've seen a lot of posts on these boards complaining about the overuse of English, e.g. by WWII Germans.
There were subtitles when it mattered. It was always clear what was happening.
You got your mind right, Luke?
