<p dir="auto">When I was in the Airborne, we jumped with our weapon in a weapons case that was attached to our side.<br />
In the scene where the school teacher was killed, you see a weaponless Soviet paratrooper go into a crate and pick up some random Kalashnikov and gun him down.  Each weapon is zero'd to his/her own operator so picking up some random weapon is not feasible.<br />
And if this is their style of jumping, what if the para-dropped weapons crate caught a different wind and ended up on the roof of the school?  They would be in big trouble.</p>

<p dir="auto">U know those were actually American Paratroopers, right? Notice they're using American canopies? Maybe u were one of them?</p>

<p dir="auto">You're asking a lot of specifics for something that represents other countries from 33 years ago.<br />
Maybe they didn't count on being dropped right in a schoolyard and thought they'd have more time to prepare.<br />
I think these are supposed to be passive details enough to be plot filler and not micro-analyzed.</p>
