<p dir="auto">I disagree with the claim that Long Duck Dong was depicted in a distasteful way. Dong is actually one of the few teenagers in this film who's comfortable enough in his own skin to cut loose and let it all hang out. Dong basically has a foreigner's outlook on America as the land of opportunity: In his native country he probably would have to keep his more base id impulses in check whereas in America he can happily shed his inhibitions and have a proverbial ball in doing so. Moreover, Dong hooks up with a woman who he perceives as attractive and thoroughly enjoys being in the company of. And the woman clearly digs him in the same way. So how exactly is this an offensive and/or condescending depiction of an Asian person?<br />
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.</p>
