<p dir="auto">I'm just guessing here, but it was the first John Hughes High School Kids Smash, and the rest of the decade is filled with either more JH films, or knockoffs, because they brought kids to theaters in droves.<br />
I'm sure it didn't necessarily say it changed it forever, or for the better did it?<br />
