Good film but never understood why Carol wasn't seen or even mentioned.Made no sense as she was pivotal to TWOK.And surely Amanda would be at her son's refusion?Apart from Kirk offering Kruge his hand a very good film

I ink it would have been interesting if Kirk did have a scene in which he tells carol about David's death and seeing her reaction. I think her character had lots of potential if she stayed on.

Bibi Besch wanted more money and Paramount didn't want to pay her when she really wasn't essential to the story being told. This is why she is not mentioned other than by name (the video when Kirk says, "as developed by Doctors Carol and David Marcus"). This is why Kirk is doing the Genesis presentation reel, not Carol.
The novelizations do keep Carol in the story. She is dealing with the loss of her boyfriend she loved in the Trek III novel, and is returning to Earth to handle his funeral arrangements. She is also in The Undiscovered Country novel, where a colony she is working at is attacked by Chang's Bird of Prey, putting her in serious condition and Kirk having to deal with that during the events of the film.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.
