Yeah, this movie goes a long way on its funky'n'glittery pure 1980's hyper-kinetic style alone. It's basically a raucous rock'n'roll take on the 1950's as seen through a bitchin'-ass gnarly 80's neon filter. And damn is it cool as all ****!
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

Oh, my sig. That's from the very early-20th century William Hope Hodgson novel, The Night Land. I don't recall what chapter, without looking it up.
And I stood where I did be; for there was no more use to run; And again I lookt with my hope gone.

WHAT IS YOUR SIG? Where does it come from?

I saw it (in a theater) back in 1984 too. I was 27 then. I had just spent almost ten years trying to learn to be a tough, hard guy, actually something a little bit like the Jungian archetype I think Cody represented. It had not really gone very well.
I wonder: In what sense am I even the same person I was then? Somehow this question seems important.

I've seen the movie ten or twelve times and I've just watched it again.
I agree with g_ring: it's held up nicely. I enjoy it as much now as when I first saw it back in 1984.
