I assume Reese arrives roughly somewhere between half a day and a day later than the T-800. After he gets clothing, a weapon, a car, and an address he tucks in for a nap instead of immediately heading to her home. Meanwhile the T-800 is killing every Sarah Connor in the city. Should have had that nap before jumping into the past.
