In the prologue, is the cat originally from Wilmington? That got sent to New York, New Jersey and went back? Because the sign on the truck where the cat sneaked in says Wilmington and the cat's vision of the girl in the second story said that the cat have to go back.

Yes the cat was in Wilmington and got stuck in the truck going to New York.
