Anybody else recongnize the identical or very similar Back to the future theme music for the 3rd story. It would play for the cat. What the hell??
That music was made before 1988, before the movie came out??
am I the only one?!

It is pretty similar, both movies came out the same year.
The big difference is that Back To The Future's score was orchestrated,
while Cat's Eye was all synthesizer.

Not to mention that Alan Silvestri out-Danny Elfmans Danny Elfman. His scores for The Abyss and Predator also recall Back to the Future, quite inappropriately at times.

I think "General's Theme" was a rough temp track for what eventually became the Back to the Future theme.

Both Cat's Eye and Back To The Future soundtracks were written by Alan Silvestri and right around the same time. Small wonder they sound alike.

I haven't looked to see if im correct, but I believe Danny Elfman wrote the music for both movies, maybe he just retooled it a bit to make it sound like a new song?
