I used to be really jealous of Terry's room. First of all it was huge. Second, she had her own bathroom and she had a lot of nice things (everything was decorated beautifully). Third, it had a sliding glass door so she could walk out to the swimming pool any time she wanted.
The only other rooms that compare are Samantha's room from 16 Candles (mainly because the bedroom is on its own floor) and Becca's room in Son In Law, because it was a separate building. Even then, those rooms aren't as nice as Terry's.

I live in NJ, so we only get to enjoy the pool for 2 - 3 short months. I would love to live somewhere where I could enjoy it year-round.

You're correct from my memory, she and her brother were upstairs so her room had a balcony while the pool was down at ground level. The movie is set in Arizona so having a pool is very common. Everyone I know in Vegas, Arizona and California has a pool. I agree, I too was always very jealous back in the day of seeing people with a pool! It rained so much where I grew up that almost nobody had them. How great would that have been? At least for the summer.

Did her room go out to the swimming pool? I know she had sliding glass door, but I always thought it was just a balcony? At the start of the film with the opening credits, you see her walking out and getting some air, I thought it was just a deck or balcony area? In any event it is a very nice room! I was more envious of her pool. That was gorgeous! I also loved the pool in Fast Times at Hamilton's house. I love in ground pools.

Her room was enviable, definitely. I also liked Rick ' s room, decked out in James Brown and it had that loft bed.

How is it known they're Jewish?

Since I don't remember the movie mentioning religion, why do you say they were Jewish? Does it even matter to the movie?

Terry and her brother were Jewish. Most of them in Southern California are upper middle class at the least.
