of course he ends up with her.
The gay subtext are the sick and the freaks.
There is no gay subtext.

He liked her, but I don't think he was into her physically. Not his type. The one time they really fool around, she pretty much has to push him to do it. And that's when the Freddy monster inside him really starts to emerge, and makes him stop.
He was clearly gay, and still working it out.

I saw it as he was trying to figure out exactly who and what he was. He was still very young and wasn't certain of himself yet. He may have thought he was in love with Lisa, but at the same time it seemed like he could've thunk a thought or two about Grady as well. I think only time would tell what he felt for sure. That's just how I see it, though.

It's not one or the other. Letting FREDDY possess his body and turn him into a murderer is a metaphor for becoming gay.
But it's a terrible metaphor. That's entirely my point. They're comparing homosexuals to murderers. There's no good message in the film's subtext.

Supposedly FREDDY represents his homosexuality.
So yes? Serial killer or live in denial? They sure don't make it easy.

Does Jesse really have to let Freddy possess his body and turn him into a murderer just so he can be labelled as coming to terms with his sexuality? Seriously.

I would say yes, regardless of the gay subtext that was either intentional or just a coincidence. His love for her is what truly helped him overcome Freddy. And it certainly wasn't the power of friendship.
But of course there are those who might say the ending is just Jesse overcoming his homosexual identity as if it was a disease that had to be destroyed, and taking up the false identity of a heterosexual. But come on, people. Does Jesse really have to let Freddy possess his body and turn him into a murderer just so he can be labelled as coming to terms with his sexuality? Seriously.
