Watching the film today, along with my 10 grade students (a semester devoted to reality / fantasy in cinema) I had a thought I hadn't had before. The film was shot in the mid-1980's, some tome before the idea of reality [sic] television. But watching how people began coming to the theater to watch the "real life" characters stuck on the screen, seemed like an unintentional prophecy of what we now have.
