Who would you pick to play the characters if Silverado were made in 1965?
I'd choose:
Paden - John Wayne
His old partner and nemesis Cobb - Forrest Tucker
Emmett - Dean Martin
Jake - Jack Nicholson
Mal - Jim Brown
Tyree - Dennis Hopper
Rae - Lola Falana
Hannah - Jane Fonda
Slick - Richard Anderson
Stella - Coleen Dewhurst (taller, but has the right personality and looks)
Sheriff Langston - Paul Fix (would have played it more traditionally)
Hobart (wagon train leader) - Edgar Buchanan
McKendrick - Warren Oates
And a fine stable of western character actors for all the bit parts of deputies, outlaws and the like, whose faces you would immediately recognize:
RG Armstrong, Morgan Woodward, Robert J Wilke, John Dehner, Jack Elam. Bert Freed, Dabbs Greer, Claude Akins, LQ Jones, Douglas Kennedy, Roy Teal, Peter Whitney, and so on and so on
