<p dir="auto">Did anyone notice that it was given the sound of a large block V8?   The largest engines those front wheel drive beaters were given was a Mitsubishi turbo V6, and they did not sound anywhere close like a Hemi.</p>

<p dir="auto">There was a replacement K-member Chrysler made for the Daytona(as well as other K-car based platform fwd mopars) so a Mopar small block V8 could be installed longitudinally  making it a RWD car for racing.  More than a few made their into street cars.<br />

<p dir="auto">The largest engines those ever had were 2.5L Chrysler 4 cylinder engines, with the turbo being a 2.2 (I worked on a lot of those back in the '80's and '90's).. This wasn't the only movie that they "butched up" the Daytona with a V8 sound effect.. seemed like they did that to sell cars (Chyrsler products were featured prominently in the movie)..</p>
