I live in Australia, and I noticed Cobra DVD in the ex-rentals section at Blockbuster the other day, and it said it had a runtime of 97 minutes, whereas the standard cut is 87 minutes? Anyone know if Australia did actually get a less censored version of the movie?

Yes, there aren't many video stores in general left in Australia.
I believe the Aussie version is the same as the US DVD. Remember PAL also alters the running time.
There are torrents of the 2 hour work print out there online. It's ripped from a VHS source and is time coded. Perhaps some clever person with the time on their hands, could edit together a version using the DVD/TV Version and the Workprint to get the best version of Cobra?
Wow, you've still got blockbuster in Australia? I thought that place went bust? There were three blockbusters in my town and they've all closed down.
To answer your question - it's a probably just a type-o. No extended cut has ever nor will ever be released.
