The DVD cuts out the scene in the beginning when Ernest goes into the machine that turns him into Dr. Otto, but it does include the scene at the end where he works in the gas station. I hope it gets offically released on DVD by a real company with that scene put back in.

Ernest goes into the changing coffin and turns into Dr. Otto?!?
Hey, I've had the VHS for quite a few years and never saw that.
Oh well, that's Goodtimes for ya
I want this on DVD so bad!! I love this movie!
Definately one of Jim Varney's finest!

I remember seeing this as a kid (age 8?) and it blew my mind as the most imaginative thing, ever Dr.Otto always added a PeeWee's playhouse kinda vibe to me. I'm getting it on VHS, maybe I'll regret not getting the 'complete' version after reading above
Yeah, Goodtimes can really butcher it sometimes.

As ashamed as I am to admit this, I did see the movie in the theater (there was only three other people there) and it did have the scene with Ernest changing into Dr. Otto at the beginning. I remember because I was totally confused for the rest of the movie if Dr. Otto was evil Ernest.

That scene you talk about was added just for the home video release, it was never part of the original motion picture. For the DVD they decided to stick with the original print.
