It should make the Top 250 again around Autumn 2015, assuming they don't raise the minimum required votes again.

It's gone again. Unfortunately IMDB raised the minimum vote count to be on the Top 250 up to 25,000 votes. It's going to be a long time before this film shows up again.

I think that the top 250 list is great! okay, there are many films that shoulndt mind be, but everyone can calculate the list them selfs. they have given the formula how they do it, to calculate the weighted average. persoanlly, I havent seen this film yet, but it seems good!

Near the end of the film, I noticed my right thumb was hurting and the rest of my hand was asleep. My hand was gripped in a clench on the armrest, the thumb contorted and locked in the cupholder. It had obviously been like that for awhile. That is how I knew I had dissolved into the protagonist. I don't care much or rankings or ratings which are subjective.I do know "Come and See" was a powerful war film with incredible sound, cinematography and editing. I would not call it anti-war. It is about the Russian soul, life and resolve at the hands of brutal occupiers who viewed them as vermin; a young boy's adventure becomes a descent into a world of depravity.

It used to be, not too long ago, and its rating wasn't much lower than now but other films' sheer number of votes may have pushed it out.
This is a shame, because I never would FOUND this film if I hadn't been scanning the IMDb top 250 for great films I hadn't yet seen. This deserves to be back on the list.
The war is not meant to be won it is meant to be
continuous

So it's a failing of humanity that this movie isn't in the Top 250? Holy Hyperbole!
As to your big fat question, that's tricky. I didn't love the Dark Knight, but think this movie wasn't as good regardless. Avatar is a turd, so my answer just depends on whether Avatar or Come and See is a bigger turd. And that's probably not worth measuring.
Anyway, I completely disagree that this is "cinema's most authentic, gut-wrenching and outstandingly performed portrayal of senseless evil and the folly of man."
It may be authentic. It's debateable, but also a debate I won't enter into. Regardless, authenticity doesn't equal quality or importance. I think the acting, editing and direction was awful and it wasn't even as subtle as the Star Wars prequels.

"not a good movie"? really? would you say that non-documentary cinema's most authentic, gut-wrenching and outstandingly performed portrayal of senseless evil and the folly of man doesn't even deserve its place somewhere between the likes of The Dark Knight and Avatar? where DID humanity come to? sheesh

If it's not in the Top 250 now, it never will be. But the whole system is weird. Lots of crap movies are there, and great ones aren't. It's very biased in terms of newer stuff.
Aside from that, it's also just not a good movie.
