Christopher Young's music goes a long way to keep this remake from being a total fail one of the best soundtrack scores ever!

I don't think the remake is terrible but sadly it's not what it could have been. This film can go from a tense scene to a groan-inducing scene to an absolutely beautiful scene, so there are definitely moments of genius. However, I have to agree with you that the score was fantastic. Along with the cinematography and lighting, the score helps keep this one afloat during its weaker moments.
