I've been looking for a particular movie for years now. I thought that it was this movie, but I don't think it is. I saw it as a kid and was falling asleep at the time, so I can only remember one part, really..
Basically, the kid lives with his parents with a sandpit in the backyard. One night, the boy antagonist goes out into the gravel pit and finds a cave that wasn't there before with a light coming from it. Inside, he finds some large looking monsters that look like the monsters in "Invaders From Mars" and a leader type figure that looks like the guy in "From Beyond". The boy looked like the boy in this movie, but may have had brown hair.
While lot is similar to this movie, I cannot find the scene that I remember.
