This film is actually a first class adventure. It IS a comedy, but I don't see that way, I think the intriguing storyline and the unravelling mystery supercedes the laughs expertly provided by Goldberg.
Years before 'chatrooms' took over our lives, this gem of a movie features one as its jewel in the crown, this film is way ahead of its time. Not only is there laughs, not only is there action, but there is pathos as we see Terri begin to fall for the man who needs her help. There are actually some moments of sterling acting prowess by Goldberg here bordering on the genius. Using only the memory of his voice heard on an answering machine, Terri begins to imagine his voice saying the words on the screen, and has conversations with the screen, not always typing everything she saysthese scenes for me are skillful and unique. And the scene at the end, where Jack arrives in person is particularly heart-warming, still angry at Jack for standing her up at Orlando's she initially refuses to turn around and look at him, but that delay in seeing Jack is also because Terri doesn't want to be disappointed in what she sees, or have Jack disappointed in herand the grin that Terri has on her face shows that she likes what she sees in Jack. A beautiful scene with Thomas Newmans lovely score in the background.
There are so many other excellent moments in this film, I am simply unable to understand why it isn't more highly respected as other 80's comedies. I would put this up there with Back to the Future for sure.

As an action comedy it fails badly as its not funny and just comes across as a Eddie Murphy Beverly Hills Cop rip off.
Its that man again!!

This movie is part of my childhood, it used to annoy my grandma that I wanted to watch it b/c of Whoopi's foul mouth, but I liked it lol
