You know him from Rocky and Clash of the Titans 1981 and Batman 1966? he's a fantastic actor.
Maybe Froud got inspiration for the design from him and i think Jen the gefling (the male) looks like Steve Tyler from Aerosmith.

I agree. I wish Burgess Meredith had been involved in the film somewhere. But Hoggle was probably the main watchable character IMO. Him and the rubbish dump woman.
