<p dir="auto">The country may very well have been better off with Jane as their queen, considering the kind of ruler Mary turned out to be, ending up as "Bloody Mary". Not that Mary should be held totally to blame, her childhood was a nightmare, it's a wonder she remained sane. There's no argueing though that she was a disaster as a ruler.<br />
Then again, if Jane had prevailed Elizabeth may have never gained the throne, and she was possibly the greatest monarch England has had</p>

<p dir="auto">Jane would probably have been just as bloody, she was as fanatical a Protestant as mary was a catholic.  jane would probably have executed Catholics just like her predecessor Edward did.</p>
