I'm trying to think of other amazing movies that are as unknown. Terrence Malick's Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line come to mind, though I don't think they're quite as good. Oh course, the challenge of something like this is that I'm trying to identify movies partly for being unknown, and I'm not exactly a cinematic encyclopedia.
Other suggestions?

The Power of One
Just an FYI that you'll be crying a lot during this movie, sometimes in joy, sometimes in sadness.
An incredible epic story with a superb ensemble castMorgan Freeman, Stephen Dorff, Sir John Gielgud, Armin Meuller-Stahl, Daniel Craig (in one of his first movies), etc.
