Platoon is actually the prequel to First Blood (1982)..
They had to change "Rambo" to "Elias" for legal reasons.

I'm totally not for a sequel. Platoon works much better as a stand-alone film.

Yeah, only in the sequel we nuke Nam, Russia nukes us in retaliation and the final surviving armed forces member pushes a button just before he dies sending a nuke to Russia that destroys it all.

Yeah, the movie will make us forget the millions dead and dying Americans as the Anthem plays over the credits with a flying torn and tattered American flag with the words "Murica, Fuck yea!" spray painted on it.
