<p dir="auto">I agree.  He was perfect in the role and did a fabulous job.  So did Dafoe.  But the Academy seems to have a snobbish attitude toward awarding actors in war films. Not even Brando or Sheen won an Oscar for Apocalypse Now.  The only awards they ever seem to give out are ones for technical stuff like: Best Sound Editing or Best Cinematography.<br />
Hopefully, someday, they will start giving actors in war films more rspect.</p>
