<p dir="auto">There are many kinds and similar products like sasparilla and birch beer. Small batch root beer is fantastic. The commercial stuff isn't that great. There's an east coast brand, Stewart's, that's the absolute best. Also comes from a small chain of drive ins like A&amp;W.</p>

<p dir="auto">It's been a soda or carbonated soft drink for generations  made from the sassafras plant root as the primary flavor. we used to have lots of drive in diners called A&amp;W that sold it along with food. A&amp;W root beer is still available today, just not as many of the drive ins are still around anymore.</p>
