Agree, Babette's Feast is a great "food" movie, as well as Like Water for Chocolate. Both make me crave something exotic!

Big Night with Stanley Tucci and Tony Shaloub is a MUST SEE. Very similar to Tampopo: the love of food, life and the people around you.

For some reason,
Tampopo
strikes me as being in some ways reminiscent of late Bunuel, particularly
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie
(albeit without the direct social commentary) and
The Phantom of Liberty
(the way that the different stories are linked).

It's not the same film style, but Eat Drink, Man Woman is heartwarmingly good, and it also, sort-of, revolves around food.
