Hmmm, the only part I remember about the noise level when eating noodles was in a restaurant scene where young ladies were being schooled in the proper way to eat spaghetti. Making a sound was not socially acceptable - and even a certain number of noodles should be picked up on the fork. When a non-Japanese patron slurped his noodles loudly, all the ladies - including their etiquette teacher - began enjoying their spaghetti "in the Japanese way". It was hilarious the amount of noodles they began shoveling into their mouths as well as the accompanying slurping sound effects!
