i thought ds9 was great. my favourite episode was little green men. it's where nog, quark & rom travel to earth in the 22nd century but go through a worm hole and crash land in 1947 roswell, new mexico.

DS9 was awesome. It did a great job of showing Federation politics. It was one planet. It was a galaxy of exploration. It was many civilizations learning to live together. That it had all of this is why it was fun.

I loved the show for its constant plotlines, its' theme of other cultures, and its' wide array of characters. I thought all of these things added to the shows appeal as a wider expanse of Star Trek exploration, diplomacy, and getting results on long term missions.

I've seen most of it now and I like it but it's honestly my least favorite Trek series so far.
That may very well change when I watch Voyager, which is a series I have tried to get into many times but couldn't. Haven't seen enough of it, though.
I don't include woke Trek. Any Trek universe where Spock suddenly has a half sister like Michael is so ridiculous I want to leave that for last.
The episode I was most looking forward to watching on DS9 was The Visitor, which works not because of the regular Trek actors on the show but because of a quality performance from Tony Todd as grown up Jake. It was even nominated for a Hugo. But is still well short of being one of the all time great Trek episodes. I have no interest in watching it again.
Overall, I would give DS9 7/10.

DS9 isn't a great Trek. Not as great as TNG anyway.
RIP Gene Wilder. RIP Barbara Hale. You were great in Perry Mason. RIP William Christopher.

Some were good but I thought "Trials and Tribble-ations" and especially "Our Man Bashir" felt kind of self-satisfied and the latter fun but underdeveloped.

Basically,
Deep Space Nine
sometimes felt a little too dark and grim for the sake of being dark and grim and also like it thought it was smarter and riskier than it actually was but the characters and especially actors were really good, the actors often improving on the writing itself.
