When Superman & Nuclear Man are fighting you can clearly see the wires very pathetic for a movie that isn't supposed to have a decent budget.

You can also see the wires in the original DVD releases of Superman II, III, and Supergirl.
Back in the day, instead of going frame by frame to paint out wires, they would process the film prints with a slightly softened focus; it wouldn't make the film blurry, but it would obscure very fine lines. This process wasn't done when they did the home video releases. After a time or two through the VCR, it isn't noticeable in a VHS, but on laserdisc (which shall rise again!) and DVD they stick out like sore thumbs.
