Agreed. Should be something like 7.2 on the IMDb. I love how this movie pulls zero punches in its stark depiction of the harsh realities of being an addict.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

If it's any consolation, I gave it a 9. And I'm not sure I've ever rated anything 10.

This is a terrific film with some excellent acting performances, especially from Keaton. The rating is too low for a movie of this caliber. Perhaps if our protagonist was some cape and tights wearing comic book super hero battling addiction instead of crime,it would be higher. Given that most people will have watched either the crappy 4:3 DVD or a sub par streamed version, a poor quality viewing experience does not help matters. Clean and Sober is part of a large group of movies from the 80's and early 90's that are begging for a proper home video release. Preferably high definition, but if not, then at least a good quality SD wide screen version from a good transfer.

This movie is very downbeat, but also very REAL and, unfortunately, that's not what most movie-goers want to see. I agree that 6.6 is a disgrace.

Agreed - I came on here thinking it would be at about 7.5

I don't understand it either. This film deserves to be in the high 7s. Its a very well-made, well acted and down to earth look at a very real life problem. How the hell does Transformers have a higher rating than this?

No doubt!!I just saw this again on HBO..It deserves much higher than 6.6..very good performances..It's great too see Michael Keaton is a serious role. He was great. Yeah 6.6 is ridiculous..

6.6 is a disgrace. This is Keaton's greatest performance and he completely owns it.

I'm watching it on HBO right now and forgot how really good it is. I was surprised by the 6.6 rating, too. Probably a bunch of 12 year olds. My brother and his wife were both sober alcoholicssober for over 20 years. I find this movie so realistic and the acting is superb. It's really true to life.
